Lecture by Dr.Usha Sekhar, Department of Medical Microbiology, Meenakshi dental College on “Cell culture and its prospects in research”.
Special lecture by Dr. P. Gautam, Professor Center for Biotechnology, Anna University on “Future of Bio-informatics”.

This Curriculum includes Cell & Molecular Biology, Genetic Engg., Bioprocess, Plant Biotech, Animal Biotech, Bio-pharmaceuticals, Bio-informatics and important part of Chemical Engg. It is very clear the Students can be getting jobs apart from the higher studies in the fields of Agriculture, Food science, Industrial Enzymes & Bio-polymers, Bio-pharmaceuticals & Genomics Proteinomics. On the Biotechnological  aspect this century of the new millennium will belong not only to communication or information technologies but also to biotechnology.

 
The department organized a National Level Seminar on “Recent Trends in Biotechnology” on 7th March 2008. The chief guest was Rev. Fr. Dr. S. Ignacimuthu, Director, Entomology Research Institute, Loyola College. He delivered a special lecture on “Modern Trends in Biotechnology”.
 
 
Dr. Siranjeevi, Former Deputy Director & Head, Department of Biophysics, CLRI, Chennai and Dr. Neha Kantawala MBBS, M.S.DNB, Junior Consultant, Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery, Lifeline Multi Speciality Hospital gave a lecture on Euclidation of Protein Structure” and “Cancer of the gastrointestinal tract” respectively.
